Topics Covered
| Continuous Improvement (CI) |
CI is the development of your business culture, by focussing on the process, analysing it and encouraging the change in attitude. Then you must implement the improvements to enable you to deliver process results and change your business process culture for the better. The Bovington site has a full time Improvements team that comprises four members of staff who have been taught the tools and techniques of process improvement. Their role is to apply these techniques by training and coaching so that everybody has awareness and understanding of why and how to improve what they are doing, by selecting and using the most appropriate lean tools, embracing a hands-on approach to problem solving, data analysis and the trial of new methods. The aim is to improve quality, cost and delivery whilst paying attention to the actual needs of ABRO and the customer. |
| Process |
In this section we will examine the remanufacture of various types of advanced military vehicles using shared resources operating in a complex planning and monitoring environment. Tools used include project management with sound project engineering, value stream mapping and management techniques to keep problems to a minimum. Constraints are identified and rectified using the lean tool kit. |
| Partnering Development |
The journey from a traditional MoD establishment to an organisation that has developed successful partnering agreements with Defence prime contractors will be explored. The development has included the strengthening of relationships to a position as a key engineering services sub-contractor and a future role of prime contracting. |
