Kelloggs Wrexham began producing breakfast cereals in 1978. Since then it has developed to become the fourth largest Kellogg's cereal plant in the world. A record 113,000 tonnes of cereal was produced in the year 2004 with over 50% of this output being exported primarily into Europe. The plant employs approximately 500 people, producing cereals 352 days per year, 24 hours per day with the majority working on a 5-shift continuous rota basis.The Wrexham factory aims to become a Centre of Excellence in three principal areas:

Safety	Over the last 3 years the focus on safety has moved from a recipe for safety - floor markings, guarding, signs etc to a behaviourally based safety approach. The Wrexham plant is now considered to have achieved the 'global standard' for safety for Kelloggs worldwide and regularly hosts visits for colleagues from other sites. The factory consistently achieves the RoSPA Gold Medal standard.
Quality	The name Kellogg's is synonymous with quality. HACCP studies along with internal audits provide the basic tools required to maintain the high standard which is expected of Kellogg's products. The plant has EFSIS accreditation at the higher level and the Environmental Management System has been accredited to ISO 14001 since 2002. The site is also subject to the new IPPC legislation and a permit was issued in November 2005. A formal Product Evaluation System, which is Kellogg's global standard, provides the framework for maintaining the on-going quality of the food and packaging and acts as a visual benchmark for any necessary processing adjustments
People Development	People development is underpinned by the IIP standard, to which Kellogg's Wrexham has been accredited since 2003. The Operational Management Process ensures that targets and performance are reviewed frequently and corrective actions are taken to address issues. Most of these reviews are embedded as part of the shift rituals that have become the cornerstone of improving the overall performance of the Wrexham factory
